The box was classy and vibrant, and the cans had an always-radiant Night Elf female standing vigilant over a muted blue Ashenvale glade. Compared to the Alliance soda, the flavor of the Horde soda seemed much more watered down.įor once it seems the Alliance has came out on top in battle, this time in flavor and presentation.įor the initial testing, all we had at our disposal was a 12-pack of Alliance soda cans. The soda itself looks, tastes, and smells exactly the same as the original Game Fuel. The Horde soda looks almost exactly the same as the Master Chief soda, except there was an orc in place of everyone’s favorite Spartan.

However, when I compared the difference of flavor between the Alliance soda and the Horde soda the Wild Fruit was defiantly present. Initially when I tasted the soda I did not notice the “Punch of Wild Fruit Flavor”. Then when I popped open the can and smelled the soda, it reminded me of Master Chief and his burnt orange goodness. The design of the can is pretty cool and unique compared to many of the soda cans out today. The first thing you might notice when picking up the World of Warcraft themed Game Fuel cans is the can itself. The aftertaste is reminiscent of children’s orange flavored cold medicine. The Horde citrus cherry flavor is a super weak version of the original Halo 3 Game Fuel. Then Mountain Dew took their child, put it in a can, slapped a Night Elf on it, and said, “Here, you Warcraft nerds, something else you can spend your money on!” To me, the Alliance wild berry flavor tasted like Halo 3 Game Fuel made terrible, freakish love with Voltage. Which tastes better, Alliance Wild Fruit or Horde Citrus Cherry? That’s why Mtn Dew has teamed up with World of Warcraft to give those care bears something to whine argue about again. Who is the rightful owner of Alterac Valley? Who has the most overpowered faction-specific class? Who has the easiest-to-invade capital city? Are space goats better than color-swapped night elves? Nowadays however, the two factions are practically identical and soon to be interchangeable. The packaging also holds codes that can be entered on a website, to enter fans for a chance to win a trip to 343 Industries headquarters.Since the launch of World of Warcraft in 2004, the Horde and the Alliance have had a lot to argue about.

Each bottle of Game Fuel contained 120 mg. This variant of the drink was designed specifically to target gamers, with a higher caffeine-content to "provide them with the boost they need to play for several hours".

Some who tasted the drink have compared its flavor to that of the previously released cherry-flavored Mountain Dew Code Red and/or the orange-flavored Mountain Dew Live Wire. Game Fuel is a cherry-citrus flavor, and is colored a bright red-orange. This promotion was active in the United States and Canada, although Canada did not see a Game Fuel release for it. These codes unlock extra in-game experience for their career in Halo 4 when it was released on November 6, 2012. On October 1, 2012, it was officially announced that Game Fuel would be returning once again on October 15 to promote Halo 4 as a part of the DewXP promotion, which allows fans to go online and enter codes found on specially-marked Mountain Dew and Doritos packaging. This flavor returned in 2009 to promote World of Warcraft and in 2011 to promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Originally, this citrus-cherry soda was released on Augfor a 12-week limited edition run to promote the release of Halo 3, with packaging featuring John-117 and the Halo 3 logo.
